•
What type of fuel cell is the Medis technology based on?
Medis’ technology is based on our proprietary Direct Liquid Fuel
Cell (DLFC) technology. The underlying chemistry is a direct liquid
borohydride technology.

•
What makes the Medis DLFC technology unique?
Many companies throughout the world are developing fuel cell technology,
but most of them are focused on one of the five or six well established
chemistries that have been around for over 30 years and still have not
been successfully commercialized. The Medis technology is based on an
alternative chemistry that allowed us to overcome the problems faced
by the more traditional chemistries and is economically viable for a
broad range of applications.

•
What is Medis’ first product?
Our first product is the Medis 24-7 Power Pack. It is a micro-fuel cell
based auxiliary power source for portable electronic products, designed
to power and charge most common handheld electronics. At about 185 grams
(6.5 oz) and slightly larger than a deck of cards, the product is convenient
for on-the-go power needs. In addition to the Power Pack, Medis is currently
developing larger format fuel cells for military, laptop and SOHO applications

•
Can the Medis DLFC technology be used for other fuel cell products?
The DLFC chemistry that is underlying technology for the Medis 24-7
Power Pack can be extended to other micro and larger fuel cell applications.
Medis is currently developing larger format fuel cell products for military
and consumer applications, including laptop and SOHO (small office/home
office) products.

•
Why a fuel cell instead of a battery?
The Medis 24-7 Power Pack is designed to support batteries currently
used in portable electronic devices. Still, as an auxiliary power supply
the Medis 24-7 Power Pack has higher energy content (longer use times)
and provides a higher wattage (more power) over extended periods of
time compared to other battery-based chargers available today.

•
Why do I need to activate the Medis 24-7 Power Pack?
The Power Pack is a fuel cell product with an integrated fuel cartridge.
The fuel is stored in the fuel cartridge before the product is used.
By removing the safety tab and squeezing the product (“activating
it”) you are filling the fuel cell with fuel from the cartridge.
After activation, the Power Pack begins to generate power almost immediately
and you can bring powering your devices.

•
How many hours talk time will I get on my mobile phone?
Talk / use time is specific to the portable electronic device you are
using and how you use it. When used to power a typical cell phone for
standard calls, the Medis 24-7 Power Pack will deliver the equivalent
of approximately 30 hours of talk time. Under less demanding conditions,
such as audio play back with an iPod, use time can be 60 to 80 hours.
